Come and experience an extraordinary New Year in London! There’s nothing quite like partying in London — with its abundance of pubs, bars and clubs, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
To mark the occasion, large events are organised, such as the famous fireworks display and the New Year’s Day parade.
Things to do in London for the New Year
Attend the fantastic fireworks display
Start your evening in style along the Thames to watch one of the most remarkable fireworks displays in Europe, and a real institution in London. More than 200,000 spectators are expected for the event. This dazzling pyrotechnics show takes place on London’s famous South Bank.
The best vantage point is opposite the London Eye, or alternatively, Westminster Bridge.
Other spots: Vauxhall Bridge, Southwark Bridge, Lambeth Bridge or even Primrose Hill. You can also watch them from the roof terrace of One New Change (be sure to arrive well in advance).
Please note: if you want to go to managed zones (ticketed), you’ll also need to be there well in advance as crowds tend to be enormous.
Good to know: the fireworks display will also be shown on large screens in Trafalgar Square. When the clock strikes 12 and Big Ben begins to chime, the sky is lit up by a host of multicoloured explosions for ten minutes.
Go for a drink with friends
Make the most of the last night of the year and celebrate like never before! Soak up the ambiance of London’s clubs — let’s party!
To start the night off slowly, I recommend going for an aperitif (a late one) in one of London’s most incredible bars. Head to Waxy O’Connor’s woodsy interior (there really are real trees inside!) From 7 pm to 2 am, you can dance, have a great time and even try your luck at winning some great prizes!
Dance the night away
For the more adventurous electro and techno fans, we recommend Fabric or the Ministry of Sound, the two best-known clubs on the electro scene, who organise their biggest nights of the year for the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
If you prefer the offbeat nature of underground industrial venues, then head for Studio 338, where the party will be crazy from 3 pm to 6 am.
Attend the New Year’s Day parade
Ready for more? On the 1st of January, join in the fun of London’s New Year’s Day Parade. The parade departs Piccadilly at noon and arrives at Parliament Street at 3:30 pm.
The parade consists of more than 8,000 entertainers from different countries who make their way through the streets: clowns, acrobats, musicians, jugglers and more. More than 500,000 people come to see this amazing event.
